LeRoy Edwin Madsen, the son of Edwin and Ardith Keasey Madsen, was born February 9, 1951 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa and died January 5, 2010 at his home in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 58 years, 10 months, and 26 days.
LeRoy was baptized at the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin, Iowa and confirmed at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. He attended Exira community schools graduating with the High School Class of 1970. LeRoy then was employed as a mechanic at the Skelly Truck Stop At the Valley.
On February 20, 1971, he was united in marriage to Dianna Jean Gundy at St. Marys Catholic Church in Anita, Iowa. LeRoy owned and operated his own trucking business for many years, carrying general freight over the road. Later he was employed for Landon Construction for a short time. He returned to trucking, driving for Asberry Trucking, Inc. until 1996. Since that time, LeRoy has been employed by Reilly Construction of Ossian, Iowa, operating heavy equipment. In 2003, LeRoy and Diane moved to their present home in Atlantic, Iowa.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his step-father: Marvin Lauridsen; his brother-in-law: Craig Flathers; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Norman and Betty Gundy.
Survivors include his wife Diane of Atlantic; his children and grandchildren: Krista Madsen and Dan Schrader of Indianola, Iowa and her children: Bryce Dishman and Michaela Madsen; his step-grandson Daylon Schrader of Indianola; Edwin and wife Holly Madsen and their children: Kennedy, Cole, and Alexis; Jason and wife Kristi Madsen and their children: Allyson and Wyatt; Tisha and husband Rob Jessen and their son Levi all of Exira; his sister: Linda Flathers of Brayton, Iowa; his uncle/father figure, Forrest and wife Shirley Walker of Minden, Iowa, his aunts and uncles: Barb Madsen of Audubon, Nancy Fusselman of Johnston, Iowa, Sandy and husband Francis Free of Perry, Iowa, Shirley Keasey of Jefferson, Iowa, Richard and wife Linda Keasey of Atlantic, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Linda and husband Larry Barber of Anita, Charles and wife Peti Gundy of Des Moines, Iowa, Dave and wife Deb Gundy of Adair, Iowa, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira, Iowa.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Thursday evening at 5:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Friday, January 8, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa.
