Robert Harold Green

Robert Harold Green the son of Claude C. and Edna Dorthea (Nielsen) Green, was born July 11, 1928, at his parents’ home near Exira, Iowa and died September 23, 2015, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 12 days.
Robert was baptized at the Exira Christian Church in Exira, Iowa. He attended rural school near Exira then drove truck for area farmers .On April 29, 1946; he enlisted into the U.S. Army. During his tour of duty he served stateside and was an automotive equipment operator. On October 30, 1947 he was honorably discharged and returned to Exira and drove a truck for the Exira Creamery.
Robert was united in marriage to Beverly Leigan. One son Tom was born to this union. Robert then was employed as a concrete foreman for Henningsen Construction in Atlantic, Iowa.
On September 4, 1954, he married Bessie (Madison) Wolfe in Carroll, Iowa. Robert continue to work for Henningsen Construction for several more years. He then was employed as a handy-man for Garst in Coon Rapids, Iowa where he worked until he retired. Bessie died on August 9, 1997. During his retirement, Robert worked as a handy-man helping Dale Jensen and others for several years.
Robert was a member of the Exira Christian Church in Exira and a member of the Exira Post No. 332, American Legion. Robert was an avid baseball fan and he and Judy enjoyed taking several bus trips to the games. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and cutting wood. Robert and Judy enjoyed traveling going to Texas, Washington State, and even Canada.
Preceding him in death were his wives Beverly Green and Bessie Green; his son Tom Green; his parents; his brother-in-law Dennis Bramer; and sister-in-law Esther Green.
Survivors include his special companion Judy Wheeler of Exira, Iowa; his grandchildren Jason and wife Lisa Green of Bentonville, Arkansas, Paula and husband Rich Carmichael of Springfield, Missouri, and Will Green of Stewartsville, Missouri; several great grandchildren; Judy’s children Theresa and husband Jerry Joens of Exira, Iowa and Tracy and husband Steve Mulford of Elk Horn, Iowa; Judy’s grandchildren Ashley Joens and Matt Muhr of Hamlin, Iowa, Robbie Joens of Exira, Iowa, Brandi Mulford, Jake Mulford, and Jordan Mulford all of Elk Horn, Iowa; several great grandchildren; his sister Janet Bramer of Atlantic, Iowa; his brothers Howard Green of Marble Rock, Iowa and Kenneth and wife Jean Green of Jasper, Texas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Glen Meyers on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at 10:30 A.M. at Exira Christian Church in Exira, Iowa. Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira. The honorary casket bearers will be Jason Green, Will Green, Rich Carmichael, Jerry Joens, Steve Mulford, Rob Joens, and Jake Mulford. The casket bearers will be George Schultes, Tom Hill, Mike Hoffman, Rob Clausen, Rich Wolf, and Dale Jensen. The family will meet with friends Monday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.
