Alice Lucile Boysen, 98, of Atlantic, Iowa, and formerly of Wiota, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015, at the Heritage House in Atlantic.
Lucile was born December 31, 1916, the daughter of Peter and Florence (Gray) Skaug on a farm in Marne, Iowa. She grew up in Brighton Township and attended Brighton Township No. 6 country school through the 8th grade. She was a member of the Buck Creek and Marne Methodist Churches for many years before moving to a farm near Wiota and becoming a member of the United Methodist Church of Wiota. Lucile worked in the dime store for 3 years.
On March 8, 1939, she was united in marriage to Arlow Boysen at her parents' home on a farm near Atlantic, Iowa. To this union were three children, Arnold, Charolette and Terry Lynn. They lived on a farm in Audubon County southeast of Brayton for three years. In 1943, they moved to a farm 2 miles south of Wiota. They were married for 68 years at the time of Arlow's passing on February 17, 2007, at the age of 94.
Lucile was a member of the Oddfellows (Rebekah) Lodge in Atlantic and the Wiota Methodist Church Women's Group. Lucile and Arlow were very active in the Anita Hayshakers Square Dance Club for many years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening.
Lucile is survived by her son, Arnold Boysen and his wife, Sheryl of Brayton, Iowa; daughter, Charolette Farni and her husband, Steve of Ankeny, IA; 3 grandsons, Mark Scott and his wife, Marlo of Waterloo, NE, James Scott and his wife, Lori of Omaha, NE, and Mitch Boysen and his wife, Cindi of Wiota, IA; 4 granddaughters, Holly Meyer and her husband, Marc of Denison, IA, Mindi Rexroat and her husband, Jerry of Ankeny, IA, Misty Boysen of Brayton, IA, and Jodi Scholl and her husband, Christoffer of Anita, IA; 15 great-grandchildren, Justin Hauser, Blake Scott, Brooke Scott, Katie Scott, Bryce Scott, Caden Scott, Ashton Scott, Grant Scott, Tyson Rexroat, Natalye Scholl, Leah Boysen, Chet Boysen, Greta Boysen, Faithlynn Scholl and Braxton Scholl; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Florence Skaug; her husband, Arlow Boysen; her son, Terry Lynn Boysen; her brothers Fred, (Evelyn) Miller, Clarence (Muriel) Miller and Wilbur (Betty) Skaug; her nephew and nieces, William Jorgensen, Linda Montgomery and Meredith Blazek.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2015, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa.
Interment will be at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2015, in the Atlantic Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the Wiota Methodist Church in Wiota, Iowa. A luncheon will take place in the church fellowship hall following the memorial service.
Memorials may be made to the Wiota Methodist Church.
