Alice Noland

December 18, 1917 — March 14, 2011

Alice Margret Parker was born December, 18, 1917, at Civil Point, "Parkers Corner", Audubon Township, Audubon County, Iowa, in the farm home of her parents, Jesse L. and Aneta J. Kroeger Parker. She attended Oak Ridge School and Adair High School graduating in May of 1935. She was a teacher at two rural schools, Oakridge for 6 years and Crooked Valley for 4 years.


Alice met Keith B. Noland in 1935 and when he returned from the European Theater World War ll, they were married on June 7, 1947. They moved to their farm northeast of Adair where they lived for 31 years before retiring and moving to Adair.

Alice was active with her neighbors in the Sunshine Club and the O.A.O Club (Our Afternoon Off Club). When the V.F.W. Auxiliary was organized on October 1, 1947, she was a Charter Member and served as 2nd President and continued to serve in the local and 7th District offices. She was also elected in June of 1957 as "The Department of Iowa President" and remained active in the "Veteran's of Foreign Wars Auxiliary" state and local.

She was a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Adair serving as Elder and President of the "Ladies Westminster Auxiliary". Alice especially enjoyed being part of the "Banner Group".

Some of her local contributions included serving on the Adair Community Nursing Home Board and the Adair Community Foundation Board. It was also an honor for her when she received the Adair "Citizen of the Year Award". Her most treasured moments of all were the times she spent helping others and being with family and friends.

Alice is survived by her nephew, David L. Parker and his wife Jeanette of Anita, IA, their 4 children, Matthew Parker and his wife Yumiko of Adair, IA, Mark Parker and his wife Terri of Adel, IA, Aneta Sue Parker of Anita, IA, Angela Ruth Kraus and her husband Mike of Anita, IA; 7 great-great nieces and nephews, Kadie Butler, Lucas Pieper, Lauren Pieper, Lindsay Pieper, Jesse Parker, David Kraus and Onae Parker; and 3 great-great-great niece and nephews, Dalton, Clayton and Alicyn Vogel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith B. Noland, parents Jesse and Aneta Parker; brothers, Wilbur K. and John H. Parker and great-great niece, Mary Alice Parker.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church in Adair, Iowa. There will be a luncheon following the memorial service for everyone to gather and share stories. There is no scheduled visitation and burial is private.
