Angela Faga, age 90, of Adair, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024.
Angela Lawlor was born on October 9, 1933, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, at the home of Felix and Isabella (Lynch) Lawlor. She passed away peacefully with family surrounding her at her son and daughter-in-law’s home. She was 1 of 12 children. She has only two siblings surviving her. She was a long-time St. John Catholic Church member here in Adair. Her first husband was Hugh F. Hollinrake. They were married on June 13, 1956, for 32 years, and two children came from that union; they lived north of Adair during their marriage. Her second husband was Eldon J. Faga. They were married on October 19, 1996, and their union lasted 29 years. They made their home in Adair next to the Adair City Park.
Living next to the park made it very handy when the grandchildren were over, as they had a great place to play and didn’t have to go far for that entertainment.
Angela started working after the two children were in school; her first job in Adair was at the Adair Motel, cleaning rooms. She then went to work for more than 20 years at the Adair Nursing Home and then at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Fontenelle. When she stopped working in Fontenelle, she worked for Craig Douglas’ parents, taking care of them in their home until she could no longer do that. She also cleaned several homes in Adair and Casey. Angela helped with cleaning the church and rectory; and would help as needed when the church would do a dinner.
She loved to embroider and made many pillowcases and dish towels. She loved making bread, especially raisin bread. She also loved making cookies, especially for the grandkids. She once received a letter addressed to Grandma Cookie.
Surviving her is her son H. Francis (Debra) Hollinrake of Adair, and daughter Maureen (Dale) Sheeder of Casey. Between the two children, there were six grandchildren born: Luke Sheeder of Casey; Dawn (Eric) Waltz of Casey; Cody Sheeder of Casey. Mathew (Keri) Hollinrake of Estherville, Jonathan (Dianna) Hollinrake of Sioux City, and Elizabeth Lillard of Anita. Eight great-grandchildren she was also blessed with. Several nieces and nephews.
Proceeding her in death were her parents, Felix and Isabella; husband, Eldon; four brothers, Francis, Andrew, Joey, and Pat; and five sisters, Uriel, Mercedes, Gen, Maureen, and Mary.
