Anna Wedemeyer

Anna M. Wedemeyer, 95, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007, at Colonial Manor in Anita.
Anna Marie Wedemeyer was born July 14, 1911, on the home farm north of Anita to Joseph and Josephine (Taubora) Rydl. She graduated from the Anita High School and then attended college for one year.
She married Harry L. Wedemeyer on February 21, 1933, at the Old St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anita. The couple then farmed in Audubon and Guthrie Counties and later in Cass County, west of Anita. They retired to Anita in 1975.
Anna belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic Women's Organization. She also was a member of the Garden Club, a card club and a quilting club. Her family and friends thoroughly enjoyed, and will miss, her tasty cinnamon rolls and cherry bars.
Surviving Anna are grandsons, Matthew Ulmen, and his wife Alanna, and their children, Jack and Joseph, of Lakeville, MN, Andrew Ulmen, and his wife Yin, and their son, Matthew of Los Angeles, CA, Paul Ulmen and his daughter, Emma, of Lakeville, MN, a granddaughter, Tamara Wedemeyer Watts; grandsons, Robert Wedemeyer Jr., and Michael Wedemeyer, and his wife, Jill, and their children, Nathen and Abby all of the Des Moines, IA, area; a son-in-law, Richard Ulmen, and his wife, Dianne of Brainerd, MN; and a close friend, Anton Clausen of Anita, IA; as well as nieces and nephews.
Preceding Anna in death were her husband, Harry Wedemeyer on June 1, 1981; her daughter, Jolene Ulmen on July 27, 1987; her son, Robert Wedemeyer on July 25, 2001; her sisters, Emma, Maddie and Bertha; a brother, Joe Jr. Rydl, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anita, IA. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 7, from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. with family present from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., followed by a scripture service at 6:00 p.m., at Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Anita. Burial and committal services will be in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery, Atlantic, Iowa.
