Arlow Boysen, 94, of Wiota, Iowa, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007, at the Colonial Manor in Anita.
Arlow Boysen was born on June 8, 1912, on a farm in Audubon County, the son of Boy Nels and Marie (Gregersen) Boysen.
He grew up on a farm in Audubon County and attended country school through the 8th grade. Arlow farmed with his dad until he was married.
On March 8, 1939, he was married to Alice Lucile Skaug, at her parents home, on a farm near Atlantic, Iowa. To this union were three children, Arnold, Charolette and Terry Lynn. They lived on a farm east of his fathers. They lived there for three years. In 1943 they moved to a farm 2 miles south of Wiota. He and Lucile have lived at Colonial Manor since June of 2006.
Arlow was a longtime farmer with his brother until 1973. In 1973 his son, Arnold took over the farm ground.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wiota for 63 years. He was issued a 50 year pin on November 21, 2004, for his time of membership. Arlow was a member of the Cass County Conservation Club and Oddfellows Lodge, for over 50 years. He was also President of the Wiota School Board for 6 years.
Arlow was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, hunt, watch his livestock and spend time with his grandchildren.
Arlow is survived by his wife, Lucile of Anita, Iowa; son, Arnold Boysen and his wife, Sheryl of Brayton, Iowa; daughter, Charolette Farni and her husband, Steve of Prescott, Arizona; 3 grandsons, Mark Scott and his wife, Marlo of Waterloo, Nebraska, James Scott and his wife, Lori of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mitch Boysen and his girlfriend, Cindi of Wiota, Iowa; 4 granddaughters, Holly Meyer and her husband, Marc of Denison, Iowa, Mindi Rexroat and her husband, Jerry of Ankeny, Iowa, Misty Boysen of Brayton, Iowa, and Jodi Scholl and her husband, Christoffer of Anita, Iowa; 10 great-grandchildren, Justin Hauser, Blake Scott, Brooke Scott, Katie Scott, Bryce Scott, Caden Scott, Ashton Scott, Grant Scott, Tyson Rexroat and Natalye Scholl and sister-in-law, Evelyn Boysen and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Boy and Marie Boysen; son, Terry Lynn Boysen; 2 brothers, Harry Boysen and his wife, Leona and twin brother, Arthur Boysen; and sister, Edith Jorgensen and her husband, William (Bill).
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at the Wiota Methodist Church in Wiota, Iowa.
Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2007, with the family present to greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic.
Memorials may be made to the Wiota Methodist Church.
Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic is in charge of the arrangements.
