Arthur A. Arter, 82, of Adair, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Art was born June 15, 1932, in Hudson, Iowa, to Willis LeRoy and Genevieve (Greeley) Arter. He grew up near Hudson. While he and his brothers attended Hudson High School where they were star baseball and basketball players.
He was married to Mildred Louise Small on June 8, 1952, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa.
Art farmed near Storm Lake, Gowrie and Somers, Iowa, until moving to Adair and buying the farm where he farmed for forty years. He loved farming and enjoyed restoring old tractors no matter the color.
Art was a member of the United Methodist Church in Adair.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward and Ralph.
Art is survived by his wife Louise of Adair, Iowa; a daughter, Connie (Glenn) Griebenow of Watertown, WI; two grandchildren, Alyson Parker of Watertown, WI and Dallas (Carla) Parker of Mazomanie, WI; and a sister, Rosella (Marvin) Olson of Warner, OK.
Visitation with family will be from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service starting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the United Methodist Church in Adair, Iowa.
