Austin Lane Vais

Austin Lane Vais, the son of Joseph Michael and Julie Lynn (Finnell) Vais, was born March 30, 2000, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa and died November 29, 2012 at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 12 years, 7 months, and 29 days. Austin was dedicated at the Exira Christian Church in Exira, Iowa. Austin was raised and lived east of Exira for several years. He then moved to Griswold, Iowa for four years. Austin attended school in Exira, the Elliot School and was presently attending 6th grade at the Adair-Casey School. Austin was a very loving person with an outgoing personality. He was the type of person who could cheer up anyone. He always put 100 percent effort into anything he did. He enjoyed trapping and many outdoor activities. He was active in sports especially in wrestling and baseball. He enjoyed cooking, going to the city, and shopping. He liked four wheeling, auto racing, and was currently building a go-cart. Austin was enchanted by the Amish way of life and dreamed of learning more. He loved drinking coffee with his family and friends. Preceding him in death were his grandmother Linda Vais; his great grandparents: Sabra Tilton and Joseph and Anna Vais. Survivors include his mother Julie Finnell and special friend Jeremy Pieken of Griswold, Iowa; his father Joe and wife Darci Vais of Exira, Iowa; his sisters: Chelsey Vais of Exira and Paige Vais of Griswold; his step-sister Lilli Vais of Exira; his grandparents: Eldon and Ronett Finnell of Cumberland, Iowa; Roger and Barb Vais of Anita, Iowa; his great grandparents: Walter and Norma Finnell of Conway, Iowa; Ronald Tilton of Corning, Iowa; Michael and Marjorie Haley of Exira; his step-grandparents Darwin and Lori Shires of Corning; his step-great grandparents: Donald Crill of Prescott, Iowa; Myron and Janice Shires of Greenfield, Iowa; his aunts and uncles: Jared Finnell of Cumberland; Megan Finnell and special friend Joe Hoegh of Atlantic, Iowa; Larry Vais and special friend Marcia Link of Casey, Iowa; Danny and wife Amanda Vais of Atlantic; his step-uncle and aunt: Heidi Shires of St. Joseph, Missouri; Joey Shires of Corning; his cousins: London Vais, Wyatt Vais, Cole Finnell, Carter Finnell, Isabelle Grace Cody, Jaidan Vais, Paytn Vais, Jacobi Vais, other relatives and friends.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Monday evening at 5:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at 1:00 P.M. at the Adair-Casey High School in rural Adair, Iowa.
