Betty S. Anderson, 70, of Brayton, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa.

Betty Sue Harrell was born on February 18, 1938, in Atoka, Oklahoma, the daughter of Troy and Theresa (Salmon) Harrell. The family later moved to Texarkana, Texas, where she lived for 35 years until moving to Iowa.

On February 13, 2005, she was united in marriage to Richard L. Anderson at the Covenant Lutheran Church in Quartzsite, Arizona.

Betty and Richard spent the winter months in Quartzsite, Arizona and the summer months in Brayton. They enjoyed singing and playing music for churches, care centers, and at the music jams in Arizona and Iowa. The two of them enjoyed going to the desert looking for rocks.

She was a member of the Buchanan Baptist Church in Texarkana.

Betty loved gardening, working with her flowers, and sitting on the porch watching the wildlife. She also loved fishing. One of her hobbies was collecting chicken whatnots. She enjoyed reading her favorite book, the Bible.

Betty is survived by her husband, Richard Anderson of Brayton, Iowa; her daughter, Shelly Preston and her husband, Chuck; grandchildren, Troy and William all of Texarkana, Texas; step-children, Daniel Paige of Des Moines, Iowa, Richie Paige of New Virginia, Iowa, Tommy Anderson of Oakland, Iowa. Jody Griswold of California, Patti Wilson and her husband, Jeff of Adair, Iowa, Teresa Brown of Anita, Iowa, Kathie Paige of Shelby, Iowa, and Richard Anderson and his wife, Charolotte of Port Orchard, Washington; 15 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Veta Larsen of Audubon, Iowa and Lola Bennett of Quartzsite, Arizona; special aunt, Gradie Durbin; and numerous cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Theresa Harrell; her brother, Rufus; and her grandparents.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2008, in the chapel at Hockenberry Family Care
