Betty Brown

Betty Lou (Schmitt) Brown, 74, of Griswold, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, IA.

Betty was born on January 24, 1942, to Glen and Mabel (Andersen) Schmitt in Marne, Iowa. Betty was the seventh child of thirteen children.

Betty married Charles L. Misner on July 2, 1959, and to this union six children were born, Deborah, Jimmie, Diana, Jon, Donna and Charles.

Betty went to work in housekeeping and janitorial work. She enjoyed yard work, sewing, refurbishing old furniture, dancing and loved to listen to music and sing to Patsy Cline.

Betty is survived by her children, Diana (Chuck) Anderson of Griswold, IA, Jon Misner of Atlantic, IA, Donna Haler of Atlantic, IA, Charles (Stacy) Misner of Elliott, IA, and Jim Misner of Atlantic, IA; 18 grandchildren, April, Holly, Missy, Nick, Nate, Thea, Montana, Ashley, Jordan, Dawn, Alicia, J.J., Cameron, Amber, Jessica, Kristen, Hannah and Brandon; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Brown; her daughter, Deb; grandsons, Justin and Joshua; her siblings, Bud, MaryAnn, Lee, Olena and David; and her parents, Glenn and Mabel Schmitt.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2017, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Graveside services will be at 4:15 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2017, in the Brighton Township Cemetery in Marne, Iowa.
