Betty Lou Cark, 85, passed away late morning November 11, 2014, in Colonial Springs Nursing Home, Buffalo, Missouri, following a battle with cancer. She was born December 31, 1928, in Neola, Iowa, to Gerald and Edith Samson. After Gerald passed away, Edith married Gilfert Nielsen.
On January 8, 1947, Betty married Chester D. Clark in Hiawatha, Kansas. They lived in California from 1952 to 1975. Following Chester's retirement, they moved to Elk Horn, Iowa. Betty worked at the Salem Lutheran Nursing Home there for nearly 15 years as a typist and dietary worker.
Betty enjoyed drawing, sewing and playing the piano. She often traveled to many places sharing that joy with others.
Surviving Betty are her children, Randall (Sherri) Clark and Mark (Debi) Clark Sr. all of Atlantic, IA and Carolyn (Bob) Braham of Long Lane, MO; six grandchildren, Jared (Emily) Hall, Melinda (Ian) Koenig, Beth Ann (Chris) Murphy, Mark (Kendra) Clark Jr., Adam Karstens and Jonathan Clark. She also has 12 great-grandchildren whom she loved and cherished deeply. Also surviving are three sisters, Bobbie (Wayne) Paulsen of Avoca, IA, Janice Reynolds of Council Bluffs, IA and Patty (Steve) Parsons of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Preceding Betty in death were her husband, Chester; her father, Gerald; her mother, Edith; and her stepfather, Gilfert.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014, at the Atlantic Cemetery, Atlantic, Iowa.
Visitation with family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2014, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic.
