Betty E. Lang

Betty Elaine Christensen Lang the daughter of John C. and Elsie (Christensen) Christensen was born August 29, 1928 and died May 12, 2015 at the Friendship home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of eighty-six year, eight months and 14 days.

She was born on her parent’s farm west of Exira, Iowa. At the age of four, Betty’s family moved to a farm near Viola, Iowa and Betty attended school in Audubon, graduating with the class of 1946. She worked in several places of business during her lifetime, including Lang Home Furnishing in Audubon, Iowa. In February 1962, Betty and Florence Lauritsen Somers opened the Duet Dress Shop in Audubon, Iowa. On December 30,1965, she was united in marriage to Earl R. Lang. Betty and Earl continued to operate the Lang Home Furnishing store until November 1968, when they retired. Earl died on November 22, 1981. Betty was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elsie Christensen, her husband Earl, her stepdaughter Marriane Stewart, and her siblings Beulah(Frank) Carter, Herbert (Myrtle) Christensen, Alice(Dale) Everson, Nelsie (John) Williams, Bernice (Russell) Schrader, Ben (Lucylle) Christensen, Imogene (Carl) Olsen, Clark (Bertha) Christensen, and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Sherman (Mayme) Lang, Maye Martensen, Victor (Ruby) Lang, Myrtle (Allin) Detwiler, and Florence(Melville) Law.

Betty is survived by step daughter Shirley Brenner of Madison, Wisconsin; step grandchildren Edwin S. Van Gorder of Madison, Wisconsin, Valeria Van Gorder of Brookdale, California; Christy (Chuy) Reveles of Madison, Wisconsin; Lauren Garrahan (Joe) of Montclair, New Jersey; step great grandchild Keanu Steward, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
