Betty Jane Lauridsen, the daughter of Herbert and Mabel Miller Bylund, was born July 28, 1924, at her parents home near Viola Center, Iowa and died June 16, 2008, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 18 days.
Betty was baptized as an adult on May 18, 1947, at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon, IA. She attended Viola Schools, graduating with the High School Class of 1942. She then was employed at the Greer Store in Audubon.
On November 3, 1945, she was united in marriage to Dallas A. Lauridsen at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Des Moines, IA. They rented several farms east of Hamlin, IA before purchasing a farm east of Audubon in 1958. Betty was a homemaker and raised the children during this time and always had a large vegetable garden. They operated a grain and livestock farm. They retired in January of 1977 and moved into Audubon. Betty was employed as a cook at the Audubon Elementary School for several years.
During retirement they enjoyed some traveling. Dallas died May 28, 2002. Betty enjoyed her home, then moved to the Exira Care Center in January of 2008. Betty was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon. While they farmed she was a member of the Neighborhood Social Club. She was a great cook and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was well-known for her pies and potato salad and cinnamon rolls.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were her infant daughter Shirley Jane Lauridsen; her grandsons: David Bauer and Daniel Bauer; her parents; her brothers and sisters: Wilbur and Helen Bylund; Leola and Harold Olsen; Edith and Harold Gardner; Norma Bylund and JoAnn and Leonard Schrieber; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Arthur Petersen, John Klinkefus, Roland Lauridsen, Darrell Lauridsen, Velma Lauridsen and Caroline Lauridsen.
Survivors include her children: Phyllis and Roger D. Larsen of Audubon, IA; Pamela and Dean Bauer of Exira, IA; Ronald and Dawn Lauridsen of West Des Moines, IA; Jon and Alice Lauridsen of Audubon; her grandchildren: Randy and Melanie Larsen and their children McKenna and Kerrigan of Audubon; Kaylene and Monte Riebhoff and their children Tyler and Mallory of Audubon; Scott and Abigail Larsen and their son Gavin of Audubon; Michael and Jennifer Bauer and their sons Logan, Collin and Carson of Exira; Brian and Amie Bauer of Exira; Laura Lauridsen and her son Morgan of Omaha, NE; Angela Lauridsen of Denver, CO; Kyle Lauridsen and Kory Lauridsen, both of Audubon; her sister and brothers: LaVonne Klinkefus of Exira; Milo and Shirley Bylund of Audubon; Carl and Donna Bylund of Avoca, IA; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Donald Lauridsen; Mardell and Robert Christoffersen; and Ruth Lauridsen, all of Audubon; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Christopher Martin on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon.rn
