Betty Marsh

Betty Bee Ward was born January 14, 1928, the daughter of Lawrence Lewey Ward and Blanche Mildred (Brockert) Ward, in Madison, Wisconsin, and passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic, Iowa.

After moving to Iowa with her parents, Betty lived in Walnut, Lewis and Atlantic. She was a baptized member of the United Church of Christ in Atlantic. Betty graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1946.
On December 1, 1946, she married Chester Marion Marsh in Atlantic, Iowa.

They worked together on the farm, but her most important job was caring for her family and home. Betty cared for daughter, Lisa, at home until her health would no longer allow, then she faithfully visited Lisa daily and cared for her with the help of the staff at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.
Betty was a volunteer for the Cass County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Atlantic Nursing & Rehab Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafts, including Tole painting and crocheting in her spare time.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chet Marsh; her parents, Lawrence and Blanche Ward; and her sons, Doug Marsh and David Marsh.
Surviving Betty are her children, Lisa Marsh of Atlantic, Paul (Cindy) Marsh of Twin Falls, ID, Lila Marsh and Dennis (Laurie) Marsh, all of Omaha, NE; her daughter-in-law, Debby Marsh; her grandchildren, Kevin (Judy) Marsh, Traci (Sean) Gill, Manda (Kevin McLaughlin) Colburn, Adam (Kelsey Ratigan) Marsh all of Omaha, NE, Shannon (Rich) Cliett of Phoenix, AZ and Dylan Marsh of Scottsdale, AZ; her great-grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie) Marsh of Maryland, Andrew Marsh, Devin Marsh, Shyanna and Kyle Gill, Ciera McLaughlin, Gavin Kavalec and Kaylee Colburn all of Omaha, NE, and Ella Cliett of Phoenix, AZ; her sisters-in-law, Helen Young of Omaha, NE and Betty Marsh of Kimberling City, MO; numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., with the funeral starting at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Atlantic. Burial will be in Atlantic Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Cass County Memorial Hospital or Atlantic Nursing & Rehab Auxiliaries.
