Betty Prall

May 16, 1917 — January 7, 2013

Betty Montgomery George was born May 16, 1917, the daughter of Wylie D. and Harriet (Davenport) George in Dixon, Illinois, and passed away Monday, January 7, 2013, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa.

Betty graduated from Dixon High School then worked in the retail business. She married Clyde Royal "Tub" Prall in Dixon on January 17, 1946. During their marriage, the couple lived in Jackson, Tennessee, where Betty devoted her time to her husband, their daughter, Susan, and their home.


Tub retired in January of 1977. The couple then lived in Atlantic, Iowa, Largo and Belleair Bluffs, Florida. Tub passed away December 27, 2001. Betty returned to Atlantic November 17, 2012.

Betty loved dogs, enjoyed knitting and cross stitch and was an accomplished Bridge player. During her time in Tennessee, Betty was active as a Girl Scout leader, and later, in the Woman's Republican Party in Florida. She was a member of the Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wylie and Harriet George; her husband, Clyde Prall; her daughter, Susan Prall Hutchinson and her sister, Gail George.

Betty is survived by her sisters-in-law, Bernice Hupp of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Valera Mayberry of West Des Moines, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, which include Karen Silsby of Buena Vista, Colorado, Robert Whitfield and Nancy Enos, both of Belleair Bluffs, Florida, and Karin Bell of Birmingham, Alabama.

A visitation will be held Monday, January 14, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic followed by a Committal Service at 2:00 p.m. in the Atlantic Cemetery.
