Beverly J. Uhlman, 74, of Adair, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at the New Homestead in Guthrie Center.
Beverly Joanne Uhlman was born February 27, 1936, in Guthrie County, Iowa, to Otis E. and Ruth I. (Moreland) Leib. She attended school at the Guthrie Center Community Schools graduating in 1953. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair.
After Beverly's marriage to Max Uhlman on January 15, 1956, she was a dedicated wife and mother to her family. Once her children were grown she decided to seek employment outside of her home. She worked at various jobs including Casey's, Super 8, Schafer Systems and cleaned the church and parsonage.
Beverly loved cooking and was the best cook imaginable. She was also a very talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothing for her children and quilting. She adored flowers, feeding the birds, and her several pets, especially her cat, "Dutchy". She was a wonderful mother who enjoyed her children and grandchildren's activities and treasured the time spent eating popcorn on Sunday afternoons with her family. Beverly was a strong woman who taught her family strength and compassion for others.
Surviving Beverly are her husband, Max of Adair, IA; her children, Kathy (Alvin) Sheeder of Adair, IA, Mark Uhlman of Adair, IA, Cynthia (Randy) Ruth of Adair, IA, and Jolene (Steve) Sisler of Anita, IA; her grandchildren, Kirk (Kate) Sheeder of Coon Rapids, MN, Brian Sheeder of Adair, IA, Cory Sheeder of Anita, IA, Whitney Ruth of Adair, IA and Quinn Ruth of Adair, IA; her brother, Clifford (Dorothy) Leib of Guthrie Center, IA; her sister, Joy (Bill) Scarbrough of Harriman, TN; her sisters-in-law, Gladys (Norman) Kading of Casey, IA, Carolyn Uhlman of Adair, IA and Rosemary Leib of Panora, IA; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Beverly in death were her parents; parents-in-law, John and Anna Uhlman; her brother, Roger Leib; her brothers-in-law, Delos Farnsworth Jr., Phil Uhlman Sr. and Jack Uhlman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Adair, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 12th at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Adair. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Adair.
