Brad O. Yarger, age 65, of Centerton, Arkansas, died on Friday, April 21, 2017, after suffering a heart attack earlier in the week.
Brad was born August 29, 1951, in Hampton, Iowa, to Bruce O. and Lois A. (Patrick) Yarger. His family moved to Atlantic, Iowa, in 1953. He attended Atlantic schools and graduated from high school in 1970.
After graduation, he attended the Des Moines Technical College focusing in computer hardware and software. Brad then moved to Bentonville, Arkansas, to work at the only existing Wal-Mart store in the United States at that time. He retired after 35 years of service in 2006.
He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Bentonville, Arkansas, for 33 years. Brad served the church in several capacities. He helped design the services for the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy and devoted himself to prayer. He centered his life around church by attending Mass daily.
Brad is survived by his mother, Lois Yarger. Siblings: Brent Yarger (Joan) of Atlantic, IA, Teresa Lane (James) of Iowa City, IA, Doreen Koch (Tim) of Neola, IA and Janet Yarger of St. Louis, MO. Nieces/Nephews: Kelly Yarger (David) of Atlantic, IA, Brent M. Yarger of Atlantic, IA, Ily Lane of Ames, IA, John Hansen (Wendy) of Atlantic, IA, Clint Hansen (fiancée Danielle) of Atlantic, IA, and Andrea Hansen of Omaha, NE. Longtime Friends: Rozella Slafer and Lois Carlson of Bentonville, AR.
Brad’s life has been full of love, laughter and the Lord. He has been regarded by many as a generous giving man who was known for his donations to those in need. Even in his death he has continued giving by donating his eyes to the Mercy Hospital Saving Sight Program in Springfield, MO.
He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
He will be greatly missed for the pure joy of life and his positive attitude that he shared with everyone he came in contact with. His enthusiasm for cars, his side splitting laugh and those long walks he would take with friends.
Visitation with family will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 5:00, Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 29, 2017, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church with burial in the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.
A reception following the services will be held at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home.
