Brett Roland Black, the son of Roland Alden and Janice Lucille (Johnson) Black, was born February 22, 1958, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa and died February 22, 2018, at his home in Fremont, Nebraska at the age of 60 years old.
Brett attended the Viola and Audubon Community schools before the family moved to Northglenn, Colorado where he studied at the Northglenn Community Schools. They returned to Exira and Brett attended and graduated from the Exira High School with the Class of 1976. Brett and a group of friends moved to Colorado where they were employed at the Climax Mines in Climax, Colorado. He worked in the mines for several years then returned to the Exira area.
On April 14, 1979, he was united in marriage to Dawn Larimore at the Presbyterian Church in Atlantic, Iowa. Two children, Jesse and Brooke, were born to this union. They made their home in Des Moines, Iowa and Brett started his own concrete business Superior Concrete which he operated for many years. In 2017, he moved to Fremont, Nebraska where he continued to work construction.
Brett enjoyed traveling especially to the Denver Bronco football games. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family specially his children.
Preceding him in death was his father Roland Black; his sister DeEtte Black-McCaw; his nephew Andrew Petersen; his grandparents; and other relatives
Survivors include his children: Jesse Black of Studio City, California and Brooke Black of St. Paul, Minnesota; his mother Jan Black of Exira, Iowa; his brothers and sisters: Kim Black of Exira, Iowa, Colette Muhr of Exira, Iowa, Scott and wife Diane Black of Hamlin, Iowa, and Lanette Black of Audubon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Following cremation a private family Celebration of Life Memorial Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
