Brian Steffens

July 9, 1963 — June 17, 2012

Brian Dean Steffens was born July 9, 1963, the son of Larry Lee and Sharon Kay (Rasmussen) Steffens in Atlantic, Iowa, and passed away June 17, 2012, at his home in Atlantic.

He was a life long Atlantic resident and attended the Atlantic High School. On April 10, 1987, Brian married Becky Krause in Atlantic.

As a teen, Brian worked with his father at Steffens Oil and Tank Service, then for a short time, he was employed at McAtee Tire and Oil. Following that, he had been employed at Schildberg Construction Company in Atlantic.
Brian was a member of the Fellowship of Faith Church and the Atlantic Hawks Flying Club.

Brian had a strong and abundant faith, a deep love for his family and a zest for life. He had a great sense of humor and loved to play practical jokes whether he knew you very well or not. New girlfriends with his sons always got it the worst, like a right of passage for Brian. He enjoyed his job, and in his spare time, liked to fly model airplanes, helicopters, and race R/C cars around.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Steffens; his brother, Jeffery Alan Steffens; and his father-in-law, Cleo Krause.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Steffens of Atlantic; sons, Justin (Rachel Rieck) Harter and their son, Jayden and Preston (fiancé, Tammy Johnson) Harter and their children, Felicity, Preston II, Domanic and Chloe all of Atlantic; his mother, Sharon (Ron) Johnson of Columbus, Nebraska; his sister, Shelly (Tom) Harris of Lubbock, Texas; his mother-in-law, Margaret (Jim) Lowary of Atlantic; his brother-in-law, Jeff (Denise) Lowary of Atlantic, IA; his sister-in-law, Deanna (Damon) Mott of California; his brother-in-law, Rick Krause of Griswold; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
