Brook Edward Larsen, the son of Edward Paul and Jill Arden Smith Larsen, was born February 11, 1981, in Atlantic, Iowa and died July 9, 2008, at the Scottsdale Healthcare in Scottsdale, Arizona at the age of 27 years, 4 months, and 28 days.
Brook was baptized and confirmed at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. He attended Exira Community Schools, graduating with the High School Class of 1999. Brook then attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for three years where he played on the basketball team. He transferred to the University of Iowa where he received his Bachelors Degree in Business. Brook recently received his Masters Degree in Hospital Administration from the Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. He had moved to Tempe, Arizona to complete his internship for his Degree.
Brook was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church. Brook enjoyed all types of sports. He was an avid Hawkeye Fan, Celtic Fan and an Atlanta Braves Fan. Brook was a fan of many sports, but his greatest love was his nephew Aiden Mack. Uncle Brook Bucka Buck was fortunate enough to experience the pleasure of babysitting for Aiden including mastering the art of Potty Training when he was home visiting in June.
Preceding him in death were his father Edward Paul Larsen; his grandfathers: Harvey Larsen and Mack Smith; his cousins: Shannon Wheeler and Damon Huffman.
Survivors include his mother Jill Larsen of Exira, IA; his sister McKenzie and husband Steven Flathers and their son Aiden Mack and his awaiting niece, of Oakfield, IA; his grandmothers: Corinne Smith of Brayton, IA and Barbara Larsen of Exira; his aunts and uncles: Frank and wife Sue Derby of Panora, IA; Joy Wheeler of Anita, IA; Jan and husband Arlen Rasmussen of Ames, IA; Sherrill and husband Larry Huffman of Audubon, IA; Sandy and husband Gordon Buchholz of Dallas City, IA; his cousins: Zach Wheeler of Overland Park, KS; Kyle Wheeler of Omaha, NE; Lindsay and Steve and Hayden Riesberg, all of Carroll, IA; Katie and Jessie Wheeler of Exira; Cole and Paige Rasmussen of Ames, IA; Rob Hansen of West Palm Beach, FL and Chris Hansen of Atlantic, IA; Kalin Huffman of Audubon; and other relatives; Jills friend Dan Brawe, his mother Milree and his daughters Tess and Kristen and her husband Dusty, all of Massena, IA; many friends and never to forget Rudd and the other three Horsemen.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Oakfield Cemetery east of Brayton, IA.
Visitation:
The family will meet friends Wednesday evening at 6:00 at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Ray Holmquist on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, IA.rn
