Burdell Imogene Baier Jones, the daughter of Otis and Olga Larsen Baier, was born July 3, 1920, at her parents home east of Exira, Iowa and died October 5, 2009, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 2 days.
Burdell was baptized andbecame a member ofthe First Presbyterian Church in Audubon on July 1, 1945. She attended rural schools near Exira, then graduated from the Exira High School with the Class of 1938. Burdell worked at a localcaf for a short time then moved to Des Moines, IA where she was employed in the Ordinance Plant.
On August 8, 1943, she was united in marriage to Robert Jones in Des Moines, IA. They moved to a farm north of Audubon which they rented and operated for several years. They moved east of Hamlin in 1952 and farmed there until they moved to Ross, IA in 1955. Burdell was employed at the White Spot Caf for a few years. She then was employed as a secretary at various lumber yards until she retired in 1983. Burdell and Bob enjoyed spending the winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Burdell always had a large garden at their home in Ross. They enjoyed spending time with their grandsons, taking them camping and fishing. Bob died October 17, 1989. Burdell continued to live in Ross and spend her winters in Arizona. In 1999 she sold her homes in Arizona and Ross and moved to her present home in Audubon.
Burdell was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon and had served as a Deacon. Shewas a member of the Dorcas Circle of the Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the Mariners Club and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and belonged to several card clubs and also several neighborhood clubs.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband Bob were her brothers Howard Baier, Otis (Bud) and his wife Roberta Baier, her brothers-in-law: John (Hamp) and his wife Madeline Jones; Don and his wife Alma Jones, and Kenneth Hansen.
Survivors include her children: John R. Jones of Clive, IA; and Janet and her husband Paul Clemmensen of Urbandale, IA; her grandchildren: Andrew and his wife Andrea Clemmensen of Urbandale, IA; Scott and his wife Vanessa Clemmensen of Saratoga Springs, NY; her great-grandchildren: Taylor, Carson, and Olivia; her sisters-in-law Ruth Hansen of Exira, IA; and Francis Baier of Audubon, IA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

The family will meet friends Wednesday evening at 6:00 at the Kessler Funeral Home in

Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Kay E. Steddem on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon, IA.
