Carlton (Moss) Leander Jensen

Carlton (Moss) Leander Jensen, the son of Carl and Elizabeth Leander Jensen, was born October 13, 1925, in Brayton, Iowa, and died April 3, 2010, at the Exira Care Center at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 21 days.
Carlton attended rural schools in Oakfield. Moss didnt have a lot of schooling but learned a lot from life itself. Moss worked for various farmers as a hired hand for many years. He later worked for Henningsen Construction in Atlantic, Iowa until he retired. During retirement he worked for John Thielen for a few years.
Moss loved the outdoors. He loved to garden and was proud of his tomatoes. He would bring them uptown and share them with his friends. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. One of his greatest joys was catching a huge blue gill which his friends had mounted for him. Moss loved to tear apart anything that didnt work to try and fix it. He enjoyed playing cards, watching Wheel of Fortune every night and Gunsmoke whenever it was on.
Moss lived in his home in Exira until he moved to the Exira Care Center on December 10, 2007. Every day, weather permitting, you would find him either walking or riding his lawn mower uptown, to enjoy a few hours visiting with friends and playing the slot games.
Moss will be missed very much by all of his friends and family. He was always grateful and appreciated all the help and care he received from everyone.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his brother and sister: Mabel Holloway and Carl Jensen
Survivors include his brothers: Harry and wife Colleen Jensen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Marlin Jensen of Menlo, Iowa; a very special friend: Terri Thompson of Exira, Iowa, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
The family will have a private disposition of the cremated remains at a later date.

Visitation:
The family will gather with friends to celebrate Carltons life Tuesday, April 6, 2010, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. with a short prayer service conducted by Abby Van Aernam at 12:30 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.
