Chad Arnold Nelsen, the son of Arnold Channing and Beverly Lavonne Larsen Nelsen, was born August 24, 1968, in Creighton, Nebraska and died May 28, 2010, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 41 years, 9 months, and 4 days.
Chad was baptized as a adult in May of 1996 at the Open Bible Church in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Audubon Community Schools then graduated from McClintock High School in Tempe, Arizona with the Class of 1986. Chad returned to the Audubon area and was employed as a farm hand for his brother-in-law Don Schlater. On April 9, 1989, Chad was involved in a traffic accident which left him a paraplegic. Since that time he has lived in and around the Audubon area. Chad has worked various jobs over the years including telemarketing and working for Easter Seals. For the past four years Chad has resided at the Colonial Manor in Anita, Iowa.
Preceding him in death was his mother; Beverly Nelsen Fancher and his grandparents: Leonard and Berniece Larsen, Emmert and Margaret Nelsen and Jesse Fancher.
Survivors include his father: Arnold C. Nelsen of North Sioux City, South Dakota; his step-father: William Bill Fancher of Audubon, his grandmother: Minnie Fancher of Oregon; his grandma Rose of Audubon, Iowa; his brother and sisters: Julie Colebank and friend Rich Stacy of Manning, IA; Jeri and husband Jeff Nelsen of Omaha, NE; Michael Nelsen of Grand Island, NE; Ranae and husband Don Schlater of Exira, IA; Lisa and husband John Alexander of Audubon, IA; Karla Nelsen of Phoenix, AZ; his nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, Iowa.
Visitation:
The family will meet friends Tuesday evening at 7:00 at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Dwayne Ferguson on Wednesday, June 2,2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, IA.
