Charles "Charlie" Baker Simpson

March 12, 1958 — September 25, 2014

Charles Baker Simpson, the son of John and Lin Simpson and Molly (Baker) and Mike Ster was born on March 12, 1958, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He died September 25, 2014, at the age of 56 years.
Charlie was baptized at the First Congregational Church in Fort Dodge. He attended Fort Dodge Community schools graduating from Fort Dodge High School with the class of 1976. Charlie attended Drake University for a short time then moved to Leadville, Colorado with his cousin Benny Simpson. They worked in the molybdenum mines and lived near a lake where they fished and enjoyed feasting on the daily catch. Charlie always worked in the concrete business which led him to work across the country including time in Arizona and Sacramento, California. After making friends everywhere he lived, he returned to Iowa where Charlie and a partner then established CTI Concrete Technologies in Des Moines, Iowa.
On March 12, 2002, Charlie was united in marriage to the love of his life, Annie Fevold in Montego Bay, Jamaica. They lived in rural Brayton where Charlie continued to operate his business for many years. He sold his interest and semi-retired. Later, Charlie co-founded Precision Concrete in Atlantic, Iowa where he worked until he retired due to health problems.
Charlie was a member of the Brayton Lutheran Church and previously served on the church council. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest passion was being with Annie and his grandchildren. Each year on the Fourth of July, Charlie brought together family and friends from far and near to celebrate in the holiday in Exira. He found great pride in participating in the annual festivities.
Charlie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Violet Simpson, and Mary and Herbert Baker. Survivors include his beloved wife Annie Simpson of Brayton; daughter Emily and husband Jay Ratigan and their children Jersey and Charlie of Brayton; father John and wife Lin Simpson of Fort Dodge and mother Molly (Baker) and husband Mike Ster of Marian; father and mother in law Dick and Shirley Fevold; brother David and wife Nancy Simpson of Sonoma, California; sister Cathy and husband Reverend Leland Webb of Des Moines; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, countless friends and his constant companions Herc and Gracie.
