Charles Hubert Morgan, 75, was born April 9, 1933, in Yuma, Arizona, the son of Hubert and Lois (Williams) Morgan, and passed away Saturday, January 10, 2009, at his home in Atlantic, Iowa.
Charlie was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Elliott and graduated from Elliott High School in 1952. He served his country in the United States Army from April of 1953 to April of 1955.
Throughout his life, Charlie lived in Yuma, Arizona, Elliott, Council Bluffs, and Atlantic, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska. He was employed as a security guard for Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a member of the Order of Masons in Elliott, Iowa.
Charlie was an avid University of Iowa Hawkeye fan. His favorite pastimes included cooking, playing cards, especially cribbage, reading, listening to music, and watching the birds that gathered daily at his bird feeders. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Charlie is survived by his uncle Dutch and aunt Mary Stouffer of Oelwein, Iowa, his nieces, Jolene Morgan and Janet (Dennis) Cavner all of Atlantic, Iowa; his nephews, Bob Black of Glenwood, Iowa, Paul (Dawn) Black of North Carolina, Alan (Magda) Black of Munich, Germany, Anthony Black of Glenwood, Iowa, and David (Danielle) Black of Papillion, Nebraska; his sister-in-law, Louise Morgan of Atlantic, Iowa; several great nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Lois Morgan; maternal grandparents, Ray and Effie (Kirby) Williams; his sisters, Coral Lee Black and Lois Ann Morgan; and his brother, Dean Morgan.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2009, in the chapel at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2009, two hours prior to the funeral service, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic. A luncheon will be held following the funeral service at the Eagle's Lodge #3763, 307 Walnut Street in Atlantic, Iowa.
