Charles R. Jones was born Oct. 25, 1926, in Lundell, Arkansas to Charles (Fate) Jones & Pearl V. (Snyder) Jones.  He was one of nine children and the only one who lived over 20 miles from his folks.  He died March 31, 2008 at the Memorial Community Hospital and Health System in Blair, Nebraska at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 6 days.

He was drafted to the Army in 1945 during World War II.  He served a couple of years, got out, came back to Arkansas and finished high school.  He then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1948.  While in the Air Force he spent most of his time on a combat crew with the Strategic Air Command flying as a boom operator on tankers.   He retired from the Air Force in 1966.  He then worked for the Post Office and was in the real estate business in Nebraska before moving to rural Audubon, IA in 1973.  He truly loved living on the farm.

He met Jeannine Duvall in Denver, CO and they married December 4, 1950.  They had two children Michael W. and Brenda (Susie).  He loved to travel, fish, garden, and always enjoyed a good meal.  He loved family, friends and shooting the breeze about politics and world events.  He made life long friends where ever he went.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister and brother:  Desaree and Mack Toney and Jimmy Jones and his brothers-in-law:  Ben Clarke and L. E. Burke.
