Charles A. Saltmarsh, 85, of Exira, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at the Exira Care Center.
Charles Allen Saltmarsh was born on March 1, 1922, in Edgerton, Wisconsin, the son of Arthur E. and Alma L. (Debord) Saltmarsh. He attended school in the Marne area.
On February 1, 1942, he was united in marriage to Pearl A. Christensen in Rockport, Missouri. To this union three children were born, Ron, Sharon and William.
He farmed for several years and then worked for Pelgas until he retired.
Charles was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, bowling and playing cards with his family and friends.
Charles is survived by daughter, Sharon Stevens and her husband, Wayne of Brayton, Iowa; sons, Ronnie of Missouri and William of Iowa; 7 grandchildren, Kristen of California, Scott of Connecticut Shane and Stacy of Washington, Lori Jean of Texas, Chris and Jordan of Iowa; 2 great-grandchildren, C.J. of Texas and Lucas of Iowa; sister, Elsie Miller of Atlantic, Iowa; brother, Robert Saltmarsh and his wife, Darlene of Minnesota; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Pearl; parents, A.E. and Alma Saltmarsh; in-laws, Ed and Nellie Christensen; brother, Morton; sister, Margie; brother-in-law, Harold and his wife, Christa Christensen; sister-in-law, Virginia Brohm; and sister-in-law, Maxine and her husband, Raymond Christensen.
The family has chosen a private graveside services.
Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic is in charge of the arrangements.
