Christine Johanne Eddy, daughter of Peter Christian and Anne C. Jensen Andersen, was born on December 29, 1912, at her parents farmhouse in Shelby County, near Elk Horn, Iowa and died September 4, 2008, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 95 years, 8 months, and 5 days.
She was baptized September 29, 1916, and confirmed in 1926 at the Oakhill Lutheran Church west of Brayton, Iowa. She attended rural schools in Audubon County. After her mothers death in 1929, Christine resided with her father and her six brothers managing the household duties of the family farm east of Exira.
On March 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Donald B. Eddy at the Methodist Church in Maryville, Missouri. They operated the family farm south of Audubon until retiring in 1977. In May of 1988, Don and Christine moved into Audubon. After Donalds death in December 1991, Christine maintained her Audubon home until November 2007 when she moved into the Friendship Home in Audubon.
Christine was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Audubon, was involved with the United Methodist Womens church activities and was recognized as an honorary member of the Esther Circle. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1957, and last year she received her 50 year award. She was also a charter member of the Busy Bee Club comprised of women from her neighborhood. During her life, Christine loved flowers, gardening, entertaining, an cooking, baking, (especially known for her Danish puff and sour cream raisin pie), but most of all, her beloved family
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Donald B. Eddy, her brothers: Lars C. Andersen, Chris B. Andersen, Holger Andersen, Marinus Andersen, William E. Andersen and Arthur Andersen.
Survivors include her daughters and their husbands: Donna and Rev. Jerry Haas of Nashville, Tennessee; Marlene and Mr. Gene Beckman of Omaha, Nebraska; Connie and Dr. Robert Muldoon of Atlantic, Iowa; her grandchildren: Anne Marie Meers and her husband Jason Meers; Adam T. Madsen; Chris A. Madsen; Ryan J. Muldoon; Maren B. Muldoon and Brenna C. Muldoon; her great-grandchildren: Alaina Christine Meers; Audra Ruth Meers; and Tristan Thomas Hayes; along with other members of her extended family and many friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.
Visitation:
The family will meet friends Friday evening at 6:00 with an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Dwayne Ferguson, Pastor Jerry Haas, and Pastor Steven Frock on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon.
