Clair Eugene Marnin, 69, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at his home in Anita, Iowa.
Clair was born November 11, 1943, at the Adair Hospital in Adair, Iowa, the son of Michael and Lelia (Plowman) Marnin. He was raised in Anita and attended the Anita Community schools. On March 10, 1979, he was united in marriage to Dawn Spargur. Clair and Dawn enjoyed over 34 years of marriage.
He was employed by several businesses in Anita during his working years, including Anita Feed Service, Anita Co-op and Pelgrow/West Central Cooperative, and he managed M&J Farms with his partner, Robert Jones of Anita. Clair was formally a member of the Anita Volunteer Fire Department.
Clair enjoyed restoring tractors, raising horses, and a large herd of Red Angus cattle. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, including his brothers and sisters, and especially his grandchildren. He had a love of animals and going to sales. Clair also spent time visiting with many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn of Anita; his two daughters, Claressa Hensley and husband Wes, and Sondra Marnin, both of Anita; his three grandchildren, Allyson, Gracie and Kaden; three sisters, Dorothy Tibben of Atlantic, Phyllis Tomlinson of Adel, and Jackie Eimers of Anita; six brothers, Don (Sharon) Marnin of Trenton, MO, Tom Marnin of Anita, Joe (Judy) Marnin of Anita, Francis Marnin (Cathie Alff) of Anita, Phil Marnin (Barb Bell) of Anita and Chuck (Debbie) Marnin of Anita; one brother-in-law, Darrell (Loretta) Spargur of Houghton, LA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Clair was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jay Marnin; three sisters-in-law, Ester, Twila and Margaret Marnin; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Tibben and Dennis Spargur.
The family requests memorials to either the Anita Methodist Church or the Cass County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Visitation for Clair Marnin will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Anita, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Anita.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Anita, Iowa, with lunch following at the Anita Community Center.
