Clara Sunderman

Clara Sunderman, 98, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa.

Clara was born to Ernest and Sarah Esther (Cooper) Sothman on July 14, 1913.

She was united in marriage to Orval Sunderman on August 19, 1936 in Elliott, Iowa.

Clara is survived by four sons, Kenneth (Sharon) Sunderman of Bella Vista, Arkansas, DeWayne Sunderman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dale (Sheryl) Sunderman, Atlantic, Iowa and David Sunderman of Bentonville, Arkansas. She is also survived by a daughter, Barbara (Jim) Waters of Cumberland, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchldren, 13 great-great grandchildren, and her sister, Darlene Petersen of Atlantic, Iowa.

Visitation is planned for Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Hockenberry Family Care, with burial in the Atlantic Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the family to be used in the community, per Clara's wishes.
