Cletus Joseph Sporrer

October 14, 1951 — March 19, 2012

Cletus Joseph Sporrer, the son of Leonard and Sabina Heithoff Sporrer, was born October 14, 1951, in Carroll, Iowa and died March 19, 2012, at his home in rural Templeton, Iowa at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 5 days. Clete was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham, Iowa.. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Dedham and then graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in Carroll, Iowa with the Class of 1969. He then helped operate the family farm. Clete was inducted into the U. S. Army on January 21, 1971. He served in Vietnam in 1972 and finished his tour of duty at Fort Carson, Colorado being honorably discharged on January 19, 1973. He attended the GM Training Center. Clete worked for Peters Motors in Carroll, Iowa until 1974 and then started farming south of Templeton. He also did construction work. In 1996 he went to work full time for Twin Construction of Audubon. Clete was united in marriage to Beverly Irlmeier on January 25, 1974, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. Four sons were born to this union: Scott, Brian, Bradley, and Christopher. Clete was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon. He was active in many organizations: Dedham Legion Post No. 20, Member of Knights of Columbus, sat on the Audubon Farm Bureau Board, sat on the Audubon County Pork Producers Board, Audubon County Tax Review Board, St. Patrick’s Parish Council, and was very active in St. Patrick’s RCIA and Generation of Faith. Preceding him in death were his parents; Leonard and Sabina Sporrer (Mom and Dad); his brother Jerry Sporrer; his sister Joyce Irlmeier; his father-in-law Herbert Irlmeier; his brothers-in-law: Gary Irlmeier, Don Wanninger, and John Thobe. Survivors include his wife Beverly Sporrer of Templeton, Iowa; his children: Scott and wife Michelle Sporrer and their children: Bretton, Dylan, Ashlynn , all of Nevada, Iowa; Brian and wife Leslie Sporrer and their children: Brayden and Camden, all of Audubon, Iowa; Bradley and wife Jennifer Sporrer and their children: Mykel, Stephanie, Kiara, Kodie, Kadence,and Kinley all of Audubon and Christopher and wife Nicole and their daughter Taylor, all of Ankeny, Iowa; his brothers and sisters: Arlene Wanninger of Coon Rapids, Iowa; Marvin and wife Susie Sporrer of Dedham, Iowa; LaVonne Thobe of Carroll, Iowa; Bernice and husband Marvin Thobe of Audubon; Janice Wieland of Templeton, Iowa; Audrey and husband Robert Behrens of Manning, Iowa: Melvin and wife Kathy Sporrer of Portsmouth, Iowa; and Joan Irlmeier of Coon Rapids; his mother-in-law Bernice Irlmeier of Carroll; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Wanda Sporrer of Carroll, Randy Irlmeier of Coon Rapids, Rhonda and husband Dave Schwaller of Templeton, Gloria and husband Wilson Griffin of Charleston, South Carolina; Betty and husband Tom Klocke of Coon Rapids; nieces , nephews, other relatives and friends

Cemetery:
Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Thursday afternoon March 22, 2012, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa with a Rosary recited by the Knights of Columbus at 4:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon and a Scripture Service at 6:30 P.M. .

Service:
The Mass of the Christian Burial will be con-celebrated by Father Emmanuel Agwoke and Father Wayne Gubbels at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 23, 2012, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa.
