Clifford Raymond Harris, 94, of Adair, Iowa, died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at his home in Adair, Iowa.
Raymond was born February 21, 1922, on a farm northeast of Berea, Iowa, to Clifford Adair and Vera Frankie (Brown) Harris. He attended school at Eureka No. 3, Fontanelle and graduated from Adair High School in 1939. Raymond enlisted in the Naval Air Corp in July of 1942 and in March of 1944, he became a Naval Aviator and received his gold wings.
After his discharge from the service, he started farming and purchased a farm in 1946. In 1972, he graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering. He lived most of his early and later years in the Adair area but also lived in Omaha, NE, Council Bluffs, IA, Flagstaff, AR and Anita, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, June (Hank) Heimark.
Raymond is survived by two sons, Kelby (Dorothy) Harris and Armond Harris both of Adair, IA; grandchildren, Garrett Harris and Payton Harris of Des Moines, IA, Steven Rogers of Moline, IL, Jennifer Pederson of Adair, IA, Kayleigh Harris and her fiancé Jeremiah Carson of Sioux Falls, SD, Alicia (Lucas) Jensen of Casey, IA, Aaron Harris of Casey, IA, Brett Harris of Casey, IA and Hannah Harris of Adair, IA; great-grandchildren, Brennan and Gavin Pederson of Adair, IA, Trinity, Trenton, Kiel, Wyatt and Madelynne Carson of Sioux Falls, SD; and a sister Aurel (Freeman) Brown of Anita, IA.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., at the Eureka Center Cemetery south of Adair, IA.
