Dallas Duane Hansen, 90, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Monday, October 17, 2022, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
Dallas was born in Audubon County, rural Kimballton, on March 10, 1932, the son of Ole J. and Cecilia Marie Mathiesen Hansen. He graduated from Audubon High School in 1950. Dallas helped his father farm while he was growing up. He enlisted in the Navy in 1950, where he served for four years. Dallas farmed for three more years after that.
In September of 1965, Dallas married Jackie DeMay. Dallas and Jackie adopted two sons: Denver Duane and Dustin Lloyd.
Dallas drove for Greyhound Bus Lines for 31 years. After that Dallas had a number of jobs driving semis, driving for Jim’s Custom Meats out of Harlan, and he retired from SWITA. Dallas was a hard worker, and he was a kind and loving man. Dallas was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton, Iowa. He served in various roles at church throughout the years.
Dallas is survived by his Special Friend, Myrna Eckles, his grandchildren Dayton Hansen, Devin Hansen, Brandon Hansen, Cody Hansen, Brittany Hansen, daughter-in-law Shari Hansen, and brother-in-law Merle Hansen. He is also survived by many other
relatives and friends. He is also survived by Myrna’s children, Don (Linda) Eckles, Dave (Lynn) Eckles, Dixie (Daryl) Rash, and Doug (Patty) Eckles.
He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jill Marie, his two sons, Denver and Dustin, his parents, Ole and Cecilia, and his siblings, Orville, Lyle, and Ardell.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton, Iowa, with a luncheon afterwards. Visitation with the family present will be one hour before the service.
