Dana Kay Williams, 49, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2010, at her home in Atlantic Iowa.

Dana Kay Williams was born in Atlantic, Iowa, on March 23, 1961, the daughter of Mike and Barbara (Eades) Mardesen. She grew up in Anita, Iowa, and graduated from Anita High School in 1979.

On December 13, 1985, she married Robert Williams. From this union, two girls, Tara Nicole and Haley Jo, were born.

Dana loved plants and creating craft projects to share with her many friends. She had a huge heart and would always protect the people who were near and dear to her. She would never turn away anyone in need. Dana enjoyed listening to music while visiting with friends and family. She loved to laugh while sharing special memories with those she loved.


Dana's lifetime dream was realized on December 18, 2010, when she finally became a grandmother to Blayzz Lee Williams-Petersen. She thoroughly enjoyed every minute she was able to spend with him in those short 11 weeks.

Surviving Dana are her daughters, Tara Nicole Williams of Spencer, IA and Haley Jo Williams of Atlantic, IA; her grandson, Blayzz Lee Williams-Petersen of Atlantic; her brothers and sister, Marvin (Ilene) Mardesen of Elliott, IA, Curt (Denise) Mardesen of Elk Horn, IA, Devon Carr of Anita, IA, Marty (Janet) Mardesen of Anita, IA; her Aunt Karene Eades of Adair, IA; and her special grandmother, Lorraine Anshutz of Atlantic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Barb Mardesen; her sister, Kristy Jo O'Brien; and her brother-in-law, Terry Carr. Also, her maternal grandparents, Norman and Orene Eades; her paternal grandparents, Franklin and Anna Mardesen; and special parents, Ruby & Allen Christensen.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011, at 11:00 am, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic. There will be no scheduled visitation.
