Daniel Joy Paige, the son of William Daniel and Rose Joy (Pitkin) Paige, was born September 9, 1950 in Creston, Iowa and died October 23, 2011, at his home in New Virginia, Iowa at the age of 61 years, 1 month, and 14 days. Dan was baptized at the Methodist Church in Creston. When he was a young boy the family moved to Atlantic, Iowa. He attended Atlantic Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1969. In 1968 Dan was united in marriage to Mary Savage in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Two sons James Joy Paige and Jeffrey Joy Paige were born to this union. Dan worked various jobs for many years including construction work and driving truck. He then attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Le Mars, Iowa graduating in 1990 with a degree in HVAC and enjoyed a rewarding career. Dan spent much of his life in the Des Moines, Iowa area and later in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area where his son James and his family lived. Dan was forced to retire due to his failing health and moved to New Virginia, Iowa for the past several years where he spent time with his brother Richie as they shared the same occupation. Dan was devastated at the death of his only brother Richie on September 12, 2011. Dan loved genealogy and was the self appointed historian of the family’s past. He also treasured his grandchildren and his great-grand child, Neveah. He made many friends in New Virginia and cherished talking with them. Dan was preceded in death by his beloved son Jeffrey; his parents; his grandparents; his brother Richie, and a step-sister. Survivors include his son James Joy Paige and his daughter-in-law Lisa Paige both of Rogers, Minnesota; his grandchildren Devon, Kiara, Steffan, Jordan, and Ashlyne Paige all of Rogers; his great granddaughter Nevaeh Paige of Rogers; his sisters Jody Griswold of Bethel Island, California; Patti (Jeff) Wilson of Adair. Iowa, and Kathy Paige of Shelby, Iowa; his step-father Richard L. Anderson of Brayton, Iowa; his step-brothers Tom Anderson of Oakland, Iowa and Richard M. and wife Charlotte Anderson of Hays, Kansas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Inurnment will be held in the Exira Cemetery in Exira, Iowa.
Service:
Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.
