Darryl Lee Alff, the son of Reinhold Edward and Florence Edna Ping Alff, was born March 8, 1941, at his parents home in Silver City, Iowa and died November 5, 2010, at his home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 69 years, 7 months, and 27 days.
Darryl was confirmed April 30 1955 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa. He attended rural schools and then attended the Atlantic High School. Darryl entered the U.S. Army in 1963. During his tour of duty he served stateside. He was honorably discharged in 1965 and moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa to live with his mother. Darryl was employed at Blue Star Foods for many years. He later moved to a farm north of Atlantic, Iowa where he helped his mother care for his step-father. Darryls step-father moved into a nursing home and Darryl and his mother moved to rural Elk Horn, Iowa. Darryl worked for several area farmers. In 1996, Darryl was involved in a disabling vehicle accident. While he was recovering from the accident, he lived at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Anita, Iowa. Once he recovered he purchased a home in Audubon, Iowa.
Darryl was an avid model train collector. He had several miles of train tracks running throughout his home. He also enjoyed listening to all types of music.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother Donald Alff.
Darryl is survived by his sister Marlene and husband Peter Humphrey of Golden Valley, Arizona; two nieces; one nephew; two great nephews; one great niece; his sister-in-law Ramona Alff of San Antonio, Texas, his Aunt Harriet Alff of Anita, Iowa cousins; other relatives and friends.

Interment will be in the Belknap Cemetery.
Service:
Graveside funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Keith Menter on Monday, November 8, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at the Belnap Cemetery near Oakland, Iowa.
