Darwin (Jim) James Jensen

Darwin (Jim) James Jensen, the son of Gordon Denison and Arlene Lois (Damman) Jensen, was born June 28, 1943, at his parents’ home in Gray, Iowa and died November 20, 2014, at his home in Exira, Iowa at the age of 71 years, 4 months, and 22 days.
Jim was baptized and confirmed at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. He attended rural school near Coon Rapids, Iowa. Jim moved with his parents to Henderson, Colorado where he helped operate the family farm. Later Jim returned to Iowa and was employed at an auto body repair shop in Ames, Iowa.
On November 12, 1966, he was united in marriage to Janice Jones at the Catholic
Church in rural Cumberland, Iowa. Three children Morgan, Lisa, and Yvonne were born to this union. Jim continued to work as an auto body repairman in a number of communities in Iowa and Colorado. He owned and operated a body shop in Atlantic, Iowa for several years until he closed the business. Jim then worked for Henningsen Construction in Atlantic, Iowa until he retired. During retirement he helped at the Cass County Landfill until he had to completely retire due to his failing health. They moved to Exira, Iowa in August of 2014.
Jim had been a member of the Exira Lutheran Church. He loved to ride his motorcycle and landscape his yard. He enjoyed watching stock car racing, WWF wrestling, and just spending time with Janice.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Jerry Jensen and Charles Jensen; and his sister-in-law Margery Jones.
Survivors include his wife Janice Jensen of Exira, Iowa; his children Morgan Jensen of Marne, Iowa, Lisa and husband Dave Jenkins of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Yvonne and husband Mike Thompson of Des Moines, Iowa; his grandchildren Misty Jenkins, Leah Jenkins, and Scott Jenkins all of Council Bluffs, Iowa Jessica Helfrick, Megan Thompson, Courtney Thompson, Jacob Thompson and Nathaniel Thompson all of Des Moines, Iowa and Bradley Jorgensen of Exira, Iowa; his great grandchildren Andrew Giles, Kash Giles, and Ryder Cizek all of Des Moines, Iowa; his brother David Jensen and Mavis Kygar of Brayton, Iowa; his sisters Charlotte and husband Jim Mozena of Canon City, Colorado, Karen and husband Sam Houston of Erie, Colorado, and Sharon and Al Duran of Lakewood, Colorado; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Warren and wife Marlene Jones of Treynor, Iowa, Jerry and wife Donna Jones of Nodaway, Iowa, Eleanor and husband Junior Ramsey of Red Oak, Iowa and Robert Jones of Elliott, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
