David Andrew Walker, the son of William Lawrence and Barbara Jean Ashley Walker, was born December 31, 1966, in Des Moines, Iowa and died from complications of cancer on January 5, 2010, at his home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 43 years and four days.
Dave was baptized and confirmed at the Central Lutheran Church in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Des Moines public schools then later received his GED while living in Little Rock, Arkansas. While living in Arkansas, Dave worked as a carpenter for a friend and traveled to many different parts of the country building turkey barns for several years. He then returned to Des Moines, Iowa where he worked for a company involved with plastic extrusion, making many different products from car bumpers to containers for lottery tickets. In the latter part of 2000 Dave moved to Audubon. He has been employed by Trausch Industries (EBI) where he worked in the parts building until he had to retire, in the first part of July 2009, due to his failing health
Dave loved to fish and enjoyed watching any type of auto racing, especially NASCAR. He also enjoyed watching football with his favorite team being the Pittsburg Steelers. Dave liked listening to his scanner keeping track of what was happening around the community. He loved music and was always whistling, singing, or keeping rhythm with his keys.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents: Ralph and Ruth Ashley and William and Esther Walker; and his uncle: Ralph Earl Ashley, Jr.
Survivors include his daughters: Justine Walker and Philena Walker both of Des Moines, Iowa; his mother: Barbara Jean Ashley of Audubon; his brother: Richard Allen Walker of Des Moines; his sisters: Laura Walker of Davenport, Iowa, Beth Ann and husband Mike Palmer of Des Moines, and Mary Alice Walker of Keokuk, Iowa; the love of his life: Amy Christensen of Audubon, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Thursday evening, January 7, 2010, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Kay E. Steddom at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 8, 2010, at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.
