David Emanuel Lansman, the son of Charles Spurgeon and Johanna M. Rasmussen Lansman, was born December 24, 1929, at his parents’ home in Ross, Iowa and died August 24, 2011, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 81 years and 8 months. Dave was baptized and confirmed at the Ross Calvary United Methodist Church in Ross. He attended rural school south of Ross and then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1948. During high school Dave enjoyed participating in sports and drama. Following high school he attended Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa where he met Laverne Partridge. On July 10, 1950, he was united in marriage to Catherine Laverne Partridge in Billings, Montana. Five children Randy, Susan, Julie, Tom, and Kathy were born to this union. Dave’s father died in 1951 and Dave took over the seed corn and farm seeds business which was located in Ross. As time went on the production remained in Ross but Dave moved the business into Audubon. Later Dave sold Lansman Seed Company to his son Randy. Dave continued to own, manage, and operate the Great Dane Fertilizer for several years until he decided to sell the business and retire. His passion was raising Purebred Angus cattle. His children entered many fairs and competitions at the Audubon County Fair, Iowa State Fair, Aksarben, Denver, and Chicago with prize winning animals. On May 15, 1982, he was married to Donna Slothouber at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. They lived west of Hamlin, Iowa later moving into Audubon in February of 1999. Donna died August 6, 1999. Dave had been an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon since 2009. Dave enjoyed bowling, golfing, and was always ready for a card game with his family and many friends. He liked most sports with football and basketball being his favorites. Dave enjoyed his many friends but most of all loved spending time with his family especially the grandchildren. Dave was preceded in death by his wife Donna and his parents; his sisters Elaine Lansman and Ramona and husband Edward Wiederstein; and his brother Rev. Quentin and wife Darlene Lansman. Survivors include his children Randy and wife Cindy Lansman of Audubon, Iowa, Sue and husband Mike Weber of Manning, Iowa, Julie and husband Gary Stone of Des Moines, Iowa, Tom and wife Lisa Lansman of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Kathy Lansman of Des Moines; his grand children Preben and wife Ashley Lansman of Ankeny, Iowa, Palle and wife Hege Lansman of Audubon, Torben and wife Nereida Lansman of San Luis, Arizona, Mandy and husband Troy Wessel of Audubon, Jessica and husband Cory Schmidt of Adel, Iowa, Eric and wife Kate Weber of Manning, Chelsea Stone and Kelli Stone both of Des Moines, Drake Lansman and Erica Lansman both of Ames, Iowa, Nikolas Lansman of Des Moines; his step grandson Nicholas Gorener of Chicago, Illinois, nine great grandchildren; his step-children Angie and husband Kelly Wilderman of Panora, Iowa, and Kurt and wife Kelli Slothouber of Denver, Colorado,; five step grandchildren; his very special friend Sharon Frederiksen of Audubon, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Friday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Doug Opp on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour\\\\\\\'s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
