David Ray Wolf, the son of Julius and Cecelia Thielen Wolf, was born April 13, 1944, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa and died October 10, 2012, at the Exira Care Center at the age of 68 years, 5 months, and 27 days. David was baptized at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira, Iowa, received his first communion at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa, and was confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira. He attended rural school through the 8th grade at Hamlin #7 and then attended the Exira Community Schools graduating from the Exira High School with the Class of 1962. David moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he attended the Brown Institute for Radio Broadcasting. On May 29, 1965, he was united in marriage to Wanda Rattenborg at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira. Two daughters Janelle and Teresa were born to this union. Dave was employed by Lensch Plumbing and Heating for a short time then worked for Exira Plumbing and Heating. He then farmed with his brother Jim for several years. In 1986 he began working a Schuler Manufacturing in Griswold, Iowa retiring from that employment in December of 2006. David was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. But most of all he loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends. On November 24, 2007, Dave was injured in a hunting accident that left him paralyzed. Even with his limitations, Dave continued to hunt and fish. He always looked forward to his therapy at Timbercreek Horse Ranch in Guthrie Center, Iowa. He lived at home until moving to the Exira Care Center on August 8, 2012. David was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Rosemary; an infant brother, Charles; his brothers-in-law Carl Simonsen, Norman Jayne, Robert Rattenborg, Ray Schaeuble, Barry West, and Joe Schaeuble; and his sisters-in-law Ardis Wolf and Beverly Schaeuble. Survivors include his wife Wanda Wolf of Atlantic, Iowa; his daughters and spouses Janelle and Roger Schuler of Massillon, Ohio and Teresa and Kenny Hughes of Randolph, Iowa; his grandchildren Mackenzie Schuler of Columbus, Ohio, Madison Schuler of Canton, Ohio, Kennedy, Logan, Seth, and Nate Hughes all of Randolph, Iowa; his sisters Betty Simonsen and Harriett Jayne both of Exira, Iowa; his brothers Phylip and wife Jane Wolf of Marionville, Missouri and James and wife Dorothy Wolf of Exira, Iowa; his sisters-in-law Delores Schaeuble of Sioux City, Iowa, Vitta Rattenborg of Audubon, Iowa, Alberta West and Jean and husband Tom Fancher all of Belen, New Mexico; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Inurnment will be in the Hamlin Cemetery east of Hamlin, Iowa at 1:30 P.M.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Friday evening October 12, 2012, at 6:00 P.M. with a Scripture Service at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.
Service:
The Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be conducted by Father Dan Siepker on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa.
