Dawn Christensen, 88, of Adair, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Dawn was born November 14, 1927, in Casey, Iowa, to Simon Edward and Grace (Beecher) Bowen. She grew up in the Casey area and graduated from the Casey High School. Dawn was married to Ellsworth James Christensen on August 28, 1949, in Piggott, Arkansas. She had been a resident of the Adair area until her death.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Adair, IA, a member of various church circles, and the Anita American Legion Auxiliary.
Dawn enjoyed sewing, music, playing the piano, and attending community dances. She loved her dogs and Dawn will be buried with the cremains of her beloved Minnie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ellsworth; her brother, Keith Bowen, and also her special friend, Dale Wahe.
Dawn is survived by her daughters, Marnell (Robert) Jensen of Adair, IA, and Leilani (Doug) Bassett of Milford, IA; grandchildren, Laurie Jensen of Omaha, NE, Lisa (Kevin) Campbell of Polk City, IA, Nick (Cindy) Bassett of Ankeny, IA, and Alex (Amy) Bassett of Rochester, MN; great-grandchildren, Holly Bassett, Sophia and Sienna Campbell and Carson Oakesen; a special cousin, Helen Nevins of Stuart, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with family will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 10, 2016, with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Adair, IA. Burial will be in Bowen Cemetery near Brayton, Iowa.
Memorials may be left to the families wishes.
