Dennis Duane Webster was born March 12, 1948, at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of George Duane and Mildred (Hoffman) Webster. He passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.
Dennis attended school in Cedar Falls, graduating in 1966. He spent the following years as an apprentice of H&H Machine Tool Company, receiving his Journeyman Tool and Die papers in 1970. He worked for a short time for Prudential Insurance and Bankers Life Insurance Company before moving to the southern part of Iowa. He was then employed by Eveready Battery Company in Red Oak, Iowa, from 1974, until the facility closed in 1996.
His leisure time was spent pursuing his love of sports. Dennis enjoyed bowling, playing softball and golfing, but his true passions were hunting, fishing, and his family.
Dennis is survived by his son, SFC Daniel Webster and his wife, Ina of Clarksville, Tennessee; his daughter, Debra Webster Wheeler and her husband, Shawn of Fort Scott, Kansas; his grandson, Luke Wheeler of Fort Scott, Kansas; his sister, Roberta Harris and her husband, Troy of Cape Coral, Florida; his niece, Rhonda Keesler and her husband, John of Pompano Beach, Florida; his cousin, Pat Webster and his wife, Joyce of Ripley, Ohio; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Randy Harris.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 26, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Griswold, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 27, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Griswold.
Burial of cremated remains will be on Friday, November 27, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the Villisca Cemetery, Villisca, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Handicap Ramp Fund in Griswold, Iowa.
