Donald Paul Irlmeier, the son of Joseph and Anna Feilmeier Irlmeier was born September 5, 1931, at his parents home near Templeton, Iowa and died November 2, 2009, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 27 days.
Don was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton, Iowa. He attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton and then helped operate the family farm.
On September 2, 1952, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Ann Klocke at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Dedham, Iowa. Eight children were born to this union. They started farming in the Templeton/Manning area and after purchasing land at Viola Center the family moved to their own farm. They moved to Audubon in 1983 and continued farming until retirement,
Don was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Audubon. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, was a 3rd Degree Member and had been a member of the Parish Council. Together Don and Kathleen enjoyed following their childrens and grandchildrens sports and activities, traveling, playing cards, gardening, and visiting with family and friends. In years past, Don always had a good time fishing, golfing and partying with his buddies.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his brothers and sisters and in-laws: Joseph, Jr. Stoogie and Rosalia Mep Irlmeier, Alex and Eleanor Irlmeier, Leo and Lucy Irlmeier, Leonard Irlmeier, William Bud Irlmeier, Cletus Clete and Delores Irlmeier, Ann and Ambrose Irlbeck, Jean and Ed Brosnahan, and Dorothy and Bob Crowdes.
In addition to Kathleen, survivors include: Steve Irlmeier and friend Holly of Audubon; Sharon and Steve Miller of Audubon; Mike and Sheri Irlmeier of Brayton; Jerome and Joni Irlmeier of Norfolk, Nebraska; Tim and Linda Irlmeier of Exira; John and Jodi Irlmeier of Anita; Bill and Lynnette Irlmeier of Cumberland, Maryland; Patty and Bryan Svoboda of Audubon; his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Vanessa Irlmeier, Nathan Irlmeier; Seth Miller, Keely and Tim Hartschen and daughter Peyton; Nicholas and Sarah Irlmeier and children Paige and Cole, Rachel and Todd Hansen and children Aubree and Lane, Tyler and Lindsey Irlmeier, Jacob and Megan Irlmeier; Katie and Justin Brodersen and son Avery. Anna Irlmeier and fianc Paul, Joseph Irlmeier, Brad Irlmeier; Ryan Irlmeier and fiance Linda, Megan Irlmeier, Brooke Irlmeier; Jessica and Phil DiGiovanni, Kyle Irlmeier; Derek Irlmeier and daughter Kaylee, Andrew Irlmeier, Michael Ward; James Svoboda, Jesse Svoboda, Mary Svoboda; his brother, sister, and in-laws: Irene and Alfred Kraus; Toni Irlmeier, Dorothy Irlmeier, Merlin Mox and Anna Mae Irlmeier; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Luella Klein; Elaine Sporrer; Harry and Lorraine Klocke; Leana and Donald Kalkhoff; Leona Erps; Carol and Eugene Hoffman; Mary Klocke; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the St. Patricks Catholic Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.
Visitation:
The family will gather at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Audubon Thursday afternoon for a rosary at 3:00 P.M. The family will return to the church to meet with friends Thursday evening at 6:00 with a scripture service at 7:30 at the St. Patricks Catholic Church in Audubon.
Service:
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Wayne Gubbels on Friday, November 6, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa.
