Donna Lou Toft

Donna Lou Toft, the daughter of Carl J. and Lola I. Tibben Voss was born January 22, 1933 at her parents home east of Exira, IA and died April 26, 2008 at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, IA at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 4 days.
Donna Lou was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church east of Exira. She attended rural schools near her home then graduated from the Exira High School with the Class of 1951. She was employed as a teller and bookkeeper at Exchange State Bank in Exira for a short time.
On October 5, 1953 she was united in marriage to Donald F. Toft at St. Johns Lutheran Church east of Exira. Three children, Randy, Londa and Scott were born to this union. Donna Lou was a home maker while the children were growing up. She enjoyed farming and loved to drive the tractors. When the Exira Care Center opened in Exira Donna Lou was employed as an aide and then later became the Dietary Supervisor. She worked for the Care Center until she retired in 1995 after working there for 25 years. During retirement she enjoyed quilting, mowing, baking wedding and specialty cakes. She especially enjoyed baby sitting their grandchildren.
Donna Lou was a life long member of St. Johns Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Cu-E-Lo Club and the local garden club. She had been a 4-H leader, enjoyed bowling and loved genealogy.
Preceding her in death were: her parents, her twin brother and sister, Ronald and Shirley Voss, her brother in law Kenneth D. Toft and her father and mother in law, Thomas and Esther Toft.
Survivors include her husband Donald Toft of Exira, IA; her children: Randy and Becky Toft of Carroll, IA, Londa and Bill Haukap of Lake View, IA, and Scott Toft of Exira, IA; her ten grandchildren: Steffanie and Mark Honeck of Boise, ID, Angie and Tyler Dern of Carroll, IA, Vicki and Eric Hahn of Wall Lake, IA, Trevor and Heather Toft of Arcadia, IA, Tom and Katie Haukap of Yankton, SD, Kreg Haukap of Seward, NE, Adam Haukap of Lake View, IA, Brandon Toft of Audubon, IA, Tara Toft of Dedham, IA, and Elizabeth Toft of Audubon, IA,; her five great grandchildren: Marcus Honeck, Treva Hahn, Kylie Humlicek, Weston Toft, Emma Klocke; her sister Doreen and husband Bill Swanson of Ankeny, IA, her brother-in-law Marvin and wife Shari Toft of Carroll, IA and sister-in-law Lola Toft of Seffner, FL, other relatives and friends.

The casket bearers will be: Dennis Immel, Jerry Immel, Larry Wheeler, Charles Wheeler, Dick Peterson, and Glen Esbeck.

Cemetery:
Interment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, east of Exira, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Tuesday evening at 7:00 at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.

Service:
The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St Johns Lutheran Church in Exira. Pastor Leon Hodges officiating.
