Dora Louise Liddick was born January 29, 1920, in Greenfield, Iowa, to Clarence and Annas Liddick and passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the Community Care Center in Stuart at the age of 89.
At the age of five Dora Louise moved to Red Oak, Iowa, to make her home with her paternal grandparents. In 1932, she moved to Omaha's Crash Home for children. At age 18, Dora Louise reached out to her Mother and moved to Casey, Iowa, to make her home with Annas and Gerald Theuer. She was very happy to be reunited with her Mother, her sister, Ruth Liddick, and her brother, Clarence Liddick. During her high school years, Dora Louise played on the girls' basketball team with her sister Ruth. Dora Louise graduated from Casey High School in 1940.
After meeting at a dance, Leonard Jensen and Dora Louise married September 27, 1941. They were the parents of two sons, Victor Claire, born in 1944, and Larry Lee, born in 1946.
Family was very important to Dora Louise and she always made time for each of them. She was a wonderful mother to her sons, a loving grandmother to Lisa, Troy, Chad and Brett Jensen, and enjoyed her many nieces, nephews and their families. Her family enjoyed dancing, fishing and attending sporting events together. The Jensen family reunion was hosted by Dora Louise for over 30 years at their farm southeast of Casey.
Dora Louise was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church, the Rebecca Lodge and the Casey United Methodist Women's Society. She especially enjoyed the time she spent quilting with her church group.
Survivors include her two loving sons and their wives, Victor (Carol) Jensen of Sun Lake, AZ, and Larry (Diane) Jensen of Overland Park, KS; her grandchildren, Lisa Jensen and Chad Jensen of Phoenix, AZ, Troy Jensen of Denver, CO, and Brett (Jaime) Jensen of Overland Park, KS; her great-grandchildren, Conrad and Clarice Jensen; her step-grandchildren, Aaron Bond and Angie Escador; her step-great-grandchildren, Skyler Runke, Anna, Alex, Marcella and Elisa Escador and Jamie and Skylar Bond; her many nieces and nephews; and her extended family, the staff at Stuart Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Leonard Jensen; her parents; her sister, Ruth Kading; and her brother, Clarence Liddick.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in Casey.
Burial will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery, Casey, Iowa.
Visitation will be held Friday, prior to the funeral, from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m., also at the Casey United Methodist Church.
