Doris Fett

Doris went to be with the Lord and Savior on March 7, 2012.

Doris was born to Fred and Freda (Dutler) Fett on February 23, 1927. She was baptized April 17, 1927, and confirmed on February 23, 1941, at St. John's Lutheran Church northwest of Adair. She attended country school Grant #3 and graduated from Adair High School in 1945. She started work at the Exchange State Bank in Adair after graduation. She worked at the bank for 54 ½ years where she was vice-president for many years.

Her Lord was most important in her life. Her four "nieces" were very important to her and also her great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Doris traveled many places. She loved to golf and bowl. She taught Sunday School at St. John's for many years. She was involved in Walther League also. The last nine years she lived at Panora Nursing Home after she suffered a stroke.

Doris is survived by her brothers, Meryl (Phyllis) Fett of Adair, IA and Marvin (JoAnn) Fett of Adair; four nieces, Regina Fett of Waterloo, IA, Brenda Fett of Saxonburg, PA, Renee (Doug) Schmidt of Ocheyden, IA and Kristen (Dave) Gettler of Adair; great-niece and nephew, Kimberly (Jade) Baker and Jeremy (Amber) Gettler all of Adair, Cortney Schmidt of Knoxville, IA, Brett and Troy Schmidt of Ames, IA and Kailey Schmidt of Ocheyden, IA; great-great-niece and nephews, Jaden, Jacie and Easton all of Adair; many cousins and a host of friends.


Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Freda Fett, grandparents and cousins. Following Doris in death by only one day was her brother, Meryl Fett.

She loved her Lord and family and enjoyed her hobbies and her friends.

Funeral services for Doris and her brother, Meryl, will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair.


Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Adair.

Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Adair, Iowa.

Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
