She also enjoyed the 3rd Avenue birthday parties. Garland died March 27, 1985. Doris enjoyed her home, then moved to the Friendship Home on April 5, 2002.
Doris was an active church member of the Community of Christ in Harlan for many years and enjoyed the summer retreats at Spring Brook Park in Guthrie County, IA. Doris enjoyed traveling both nationally and internationally. She was a very good cook and enjoyed baking.
