Douglas R. Morrell

Douglas R. Morrell, the son of Richard L. Morrell and Evelyn D. (Meislahn) Morrell, was born May 26, 1952 in Hayward, California, and died January 28, 2016 at the Haven Hospice Center in Palatka, Florida due to complications from a stroke. He attended Audubon High School and graduated with the Class of 1970. Doug then attended the University of Iowa where he earned a degree in nursing.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Richard Morrell. Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Morrell of Fleming Island, FL; daughter Kristen Rossi and husband Kyle and their daughter Lena of Portsmouth, VA; daughter Kelly Picanso and husband Tony and their sons Caden and Wyatt of Topeka, KS; daughter Kaitlin Morrell of Overland Park, KS; sister Barbara Morrell and husband John Clement of Sunderland, MA; sister Jeanette Meeker and husband Larry of Fleming Island, FL; sister Deborah Morrell and husband Roger Frick of Snellville, GA and their children Madeleine and Matthew.
Graveside services for Douglas R. Morrell, 63, of Ocala, FL will be conducted by Pastor Lori Shannon on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the Gray Cemetery west of Gray, Iowa. The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa is in charge of the arrangements.
The family prefers memorial contributions be made to your local hospice or to your local Humane Society.
