Duane T. Suplee, 61, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2007 at his home in Anita.
Duane Terry Suplee was born on August 17, 1946, at the Adair Hospital in Adair, Iowa, the son of Lester H. and Beatrice L. (Mortensen) Suplee.
He graduated from Anita High School in 1965. Duane worked several jobs, including delivering the Des Moines Sunday Register, before joining the Navy. He served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years.
Duane received special training in Illinois, and worked as a Mechanical Operations Supervisor. His training took him from Illinois to Washington. He worked at 3 large bowling firms including, Brunswick Northern Bowl in Glendale Heights, Illinois, Sea Tac Lewis and Clark Bowling, and a 48 lane bowling facility in Bremerton, Washington. After returning to Anita he worked various jobs, including Crestwood Hills Golf Course.
In 1971, Duane was married to Felsia Remante, and born to this union were two children, Ted and Lester. They later divorced and he married Yolanda Abbatiello.
Duane was a member of the former Anita Church of Christ and American Legion Post #210. He loved to look at and work on Hotrods. Duane also liked to watch baseball, including his favorite team the Chicago Cubs.
Duane is survived by his sons, Ted A. Suplee and his wife, Dulce of San Diego, California, and Lester H. Suplee and his wife, Jessica of Bonney Lake, Washington; grandson, Karter Suplee; granddaughter, Isabella Suplee; mother, Beatrice Suplee of Anita, Iowa; brothers, Gene Suplee of Newton, Iowa, and Rick Suplee of Anita, Iowa; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lester, and brother, Larry Suplee.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 18, 2007 in the chapel at the Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Anita. A time of visitation and lunch will follow the memorial service at the Anita American Legion Hall.
